I’m Steve, a fifty something year old cyclist, husband and father, living and working in Leicestershire, England while navigating my way through the usual busy life we all seem to lead these days…

I am a long term sufferer of IBD having been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis during my early twenty’s. It is a chronic illness that can occasionally stop me in my tracks, when it flares up it leads to a lack of energy and a feeling of almost constant fatigue, this can then get into my head and affect my mind set preventing me from riding as much as I would like.

However, I’m determined this condition will not beat me and I will always try to fight back each time I feel mentally and physically strong enough to do so. Cycling has become a huge part of my life over the last 5 years and time spent out on the roads spinning the pedals is where I free my mind and find my solace.

Whether I’m commuting to work at 5:00am, winding my way around the local lanes or struggling over that next hill, it’s all about being out there, discovering new places and breathing in the world around me, allowing it to make me feel more alive and complete with each mile earned.

As the ink tattooed into forearm suggests ‘Adventure is out there’ and the bike is my desired way to seek it out.
