Dan – A hoarder of miles, seeker of solitude and genuine lover of cycling

I come from a place of complacency, uncertainty and insecurity, self inflicted consequences tattered my path. A purposeful vagueness but it’s not a secret. I’m happy to share if you have questions.

Longing for more, a change was needed. Started pedaling on a piece of shit mountain bike with gym shorts, backwards hat and a backpack full of Gatorade to fuel my first 5 mile ride. Big accomplishment I thought, felt great (minus the sugary gut of ignorance). Five miles turned to ten, ten to 20, 20 to 50 and so on. Started going on multi day bikepacking trips, a century (100 miles) became the norm. As the miles increased so did my confidence, attitude and knowledge of the sport. Moved up to a cross bike, started wearing padded shorts and even a helmet. Over time I purchased a computer to measure speed and distance. Not knowing it at the time, this evolution was building a lot more than just fitness and upgrades.

Now I own a carbon aero road bike, wide tire gravel bike and a steel frame touring bike. The gear and gadgets are a hobby all in itself.

A hoarder of miles, seeker of solitude and genuine lover of cycling, this community is unlike anything else and I feel fortunate to be part of it.

I’m always here and appreciate a good conversation
