Robby – Everyday I ride 100kms to work.

Hi,
my name is Robby Maseele. I’m 40 years old and live in Belgium, Lokeren (yes, that’s the Flanders as you all know it). I’m married and have 4 kids, my family is everything for me!

I used to play football for 20 years and was pretty good at it – until I had a nasty accident at work. I fell down from 9m height and landed on my back. Unfortunately a surgery was unavoidable.

Now I have two plates and six bolts in my back. Of course I had to stop playing football. After 2 years of rehabilitation my brother pushed me on a bike…

We started in the weekends but after a few months we road almost every day. Quickly I became addicted – and it felt awesome. Now I’m riding for almost 12 years. I love to ride in groups, but definitely prefer to ride alone. Why? you may ask. Well, I love the silence, the headwinds and tailwinds and for sure I love to ride big distances, 400km and more.

Here in Belgium cycling is a holy sport, people spend a lot of time on their bikes, on cycling outfits and equipment. We are one big family!

Everyday I ride 100kms to work. That’s my training, no matter if there’s rain, wind, snow, sun. I simply have to ride…
