I am a relative “newbie” to cycling.
I only took up the sport seriously after witnessing the Tour de France Grand Depart in Yorkshire in 2014. It was an incredible experience and I became instantly hooked on road cycling.
I had purchased a bike in 2013 to try to get fit and lose weight. Back then, I was weighing in at 105kg, smoking 20-30 cigarettes a day and was drinking regularly. In the years since, I took on a coach and became determined to turn my life around. I managed to get down to 80kg, no longer smoke or drink and have never felt fitter in my life. I am now approaching 50 years old but feel 25!
I love the freedom that cycling brings. After a tough day in work, there is nothing better than getting home and getting out on the bike. I live in a remarkably beautiful part of the world, Snowdonia. Within minutes of leaving the house, I can either be up in the hills or down by the coast. I have an amazing selections of roads and routes to choose from on every ride.
Cycling brings me peace. I love to stop and take in the beautiful surroundings and no longer take my surroundings for granted.
