Chris – it brings me so much peace

Hi everyone, my name is Chris (aka Cycling Jonesy).

I’m 51 years young and I rediscovered cycling 4 years ago after a break of 32 years, back in the early 80’s you’d find me launching off the top of a quarter pipe on my BMX.

I started cycling again in a bid to lose weight and get fitter, I started at 108 kilo’s and now down to 77 kilo’s, I’m only a short 1.73 metres tall. However, as well as losing weight and no longer getting out of breath walking up the stairs, my mental health is so much better and I’m so much happier which is something I didn’t initially expect.

I’m lucky enough to live in North Lancashire UK which means the Lake District, Yorkshire National Park and the Lancashire moors are all on my doorstep. This means I’ve got beautiful countryside including mountains, moors and lakes to lose myself in and it brings me so much peace.

I don’t always ride alone, I cycle 4 or 5 times, 300 to 400km a week and around half of that will be alone, the rest is 1 or 2 club rides and I also lead social rides once every couple of weeks for Fat Lad at the Back.

Happy Cycling
